My name is Annabel Makin-Jones, I am 36 years old and I am wife to my husband Chris and a mother to our children Oscar (5) and Jemima (3). I have been running our family business since 2004, not only am I a businesswoman but I am also a farmer, dedicated to producing the best Great Britain has to offer.
Annabel’s Deliciously British was born when I established a clear gap in the market for a high quality, socially responsible brand in 2019. I am passionate about ensuring the future of the planet for us all, it is in our hands and it deserves to be respected and therefore sustainability is one of our core values.
The strawberries are packed into biodegradable punnets or wooden trays with film lids (trialling biodegradable film lids at present) with outer packaging for the smaller punnets being cardboard boxes. We continually strive to lower the carbon footprint of our product, sourcing wherever possible from Great Britain. We are LEAF, BRC and Red Tractor accredited.
Our strawberry farm is located in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and has been supplying fruit for over 14 years. Malling Centenary is the selected variety good enough for Annabel’s Deliciously British strawberries which we plant over a three-month period to ensure we can guarantee quality and continuity of supply for our customers throughout the season.
I am also dedicated to driving investment back into the future of British industry and British people, and I have therefore chosen to support the Prince’s Trust, who enable young people to break into the world of work, arming them with the skills necessary to succeed. Every punnet we sell we will make a donation to the trust that will have a positive impact on a young person’s life.
I am very much looking forward to introducing the brand and these wonderful strawberries to the chefs and restaurant owners from May 2019.
