IOW Tomatoes

The Tomato Stall have been exciting taste buds with their speciality tomatoes since 2007 and are well known for growing the UK’s best tasting toms. The Island boasts a unique maritime climate and a higher average sunshine hour than other parts of the UK – creating the perfect conditions to grow high flavoured tomatoes.

Based in the centre of the island, the Arreton nursery is home to around 260,000 m2 of glasshouses and utilises a wide range of sustainable methods. The entire growing system is biodegradable including the coconut husk the plants are grown in and the string that they climb. All plant waste is composted throughout the year which helps enrich the soil for their organic tomatoes. Rainwater is also harvested from the glasshouses to irrigate the tomato plants & bumble bees native to the UK take care of pollination.

In their quest for the best flavoured tomatoes, The Tomato Stall grow nearly 40 different types of tomatoes and trial up to 200 each year. As well as consistently growing varieties like piccolo cherry vine, which are synonymous with being the best tasting cherry vine available. An independent taste panel meets weekly during the season to make sure everything is tasting as it should be. Each tomato we provide Mash Purveyors is picked and packed by hand and then dispatched within just a few hours!
